Blue Exorcist: Beyond the Snow Saga serves as a sequel to Blue Exorcist: Shimane Illuminati Saga, which premiered earlier this year in January. Both Crunchyroll and the English dub were made available for fans outside Japan, continuing the franchise’s global reach.

Directed by Daisuke Yoshida at Studio VOLN, the anime features a series composition by Toshiya Ono, character design and chief animation direction by Yurie Oohigashi, and a powerful soundtrack composed by Kohta Yamamoto and Hiroyuki Sawano. The rock band UVERworld provided the opening theme “Eye’s Sentry,” while Murasaki-Ima performed the ending theme “Gakkyū Nisshi” (Class Diary).

The Blue Exorcist manga, penned by Kazue Katō, debuted in Jump SQ. in 2009 and has since become a major success, with over 25 million copies in circulation. After a brief hiatus in July 2021, the manga resumed in May 2022, continuing the saga that fans have eagerly followed.

Viz Media publishes the manga in English, describing the story as follows:

“Raised by Father Fujimoto, a renowned exorcist, Rin Okumura lived a relatively normal life until a fateful argument revealed his true lineage—the blood of Satan himself runs through his veins. Determined to defy his infernal heritage, Rin vows to defeat Satan by enrolling in the mysterious True Cross Academy to become an exorcist. But with his demonic powers threatening to overwhelm him, can Rin keep his dark secret while battling the forces of evil?”

The Blue Exorcist franchise has expanded over the years, beginning with a 25-episode television anime in 2011, followed by the Blue Exorcist: Kuro Runs Away From Home OAV the same year, and a feature film that premiered in December 2012. The Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga television anime continued the story in 2017 with 12 episodes. The franchise also boasts several novels and a series of stage plays, solidifying its status as a beloved anime phenomenon.
