‘Bridgerton’ Season 4 Casts Yerin Ha As Sophie Beckett

Yerin Ha has officially joined Netflix’s hit series Bridgerton, set to play Sophie Beckett, the love interest of Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) in the highly anticipated fourth season. Known for its steamy romances and regency drama, Bridgerton is diving into a fan-favorite storyline based on Julia Quinn’s beloved novel An Offer From a Gentleman, where Sophie’s slow-burning romance with Benedict takes center stage.

In the novel, Sophie Beckett is the illegitimate daughter of an earl, born to one of his maids. Though she was raised in his home, she was never acknowledged as his legitimate offspring, leaving her vulnerable to a harsh life at the hands of her cruel stepmother and stepsisters. Dubbed the “Lady in Silver” due to her appearance at a pivotal masquerade ball, Sophie captures Benedict’s heart, sparking a Cinderella-like love story filled with class boundaries and personal discovery.

Fans have eagerly awaited the introduction of Sophie, especially after Netflix’s confirmation that Season 4 would focus on her and Benedict’s romance. The ending of Season 3 even teased this new chapter, hinting at the famed masquerade ball where Sophie and Benedict will meet for the first time, setting the stage for a season of passion, secrecy, and forbidden love.

The casting decision for Sophie Beckett had long been the subject of speculation, and Ha’s selection signals an exciting new dynamic for the series. Her character’s complex background and chemistry with Benedict promise to provide Bridgerton viewers with another enthralling love story.

The series’ creators opted to alter the book order for the TV adaptation. While the third novel in Quinn’s series revolves around Benedict’s quest for love, the showrunners decided to dedicate Season 3 to the events of Romancing Mister Bridgerton, the fourth book, which focuses on the love story between Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan). This shift made Season 4’s focus on Benedict and Sophie even more highly anticipated.

Yerin Ha, best known for her breakout role as Kwan Ha in the live-action Halo series, brings her strong on-screen presence to the Bridgerton world. She will also soon appear in Dune: Prophecy, a prequel series set to premiere on Max in November. With a resume that includes Australian dramas and the indie horror flick Sissy, Ha’s versatility makes her a perfect fit for Sophie Beckett’s layered character.

Bridgerton has continually captured audiences worldwide with its lush production, diverse casting, and modern twist on regency-era romances. As fans await Sophie and Benedict’s love story to unfold, there is little doubt that Season 4 will continue to break hearts, challenge societal norms, and deliver the swoon-worthy drama that has made the show a global phenomenon.

Currently, Six Studios is actively searching for the right director to helm the project, with production slated to begin this fall. Producers Carl Choi of Six Studios, Ben Hung of Retro Entertainment, and Ken Levin of Nightsky Productions are leading the charge, having worked closely with Ennis to develop the adaptation. Ennis will serve as an executive producer alongside Six Studios’ Jeff Huang, Carl Amari, and Bill Patterson.

With The Boys becoming one of Amazon’s most successful series and a cultural phenomenon, Ennis has solidified his place as one of the foremost creators of dark, subversive comic book adaptations. The Boys has been praised for its fearless storytelling, spawning multiple spinoffs and drawing in massive viewership, and it is set to conclude with its upcoming fifth season. Likewise, Preacher ran for four acclaimed seasons from 2016 to 2019.

Beyond Crossed, Six Studios is also expanding its portfolio with other high-profile projects, including a TV adaptation of Raymond E. Feist’s The Riftwar Saga and Curse of the Sin Eater, which was recently picked up by Samuel Goldwyn.
