10 Most Heroic Things Done By Doctor Doom

In the expansive Marvel Universe, few characters command as much respect, fear, and fascination as Victor Von Doom. As the sovereign ruler of Latveria and the archenemy of Reed Richards, Doctor Doom is one of the most formidable figures in comic book lore. Yet, what truly makes him an enduring character is the moral ambiguity that surrounds his actions. While his ultimate goal is always to amass more power for himself, Doom has also taken actions that have unknowingly benefited others, leaving fans questioning whether he is truly a villain or something more complex.

Doctor Doom is a character driven by a singular purpose: to secure more power. However, his path to achieving this goal is not always clear-cut. He has clashed with the likes of the Fantastic Four and the Avengers, attempting to conquer the world on multiple occasions. Yet, he has also fought fiercely to protect his homeland of Latveria and even ventured into Hell itself to rescue the soul of his mother. This duality is what makes Doom such a captivating figure. He operates by his own set of rules, and while his methods may be questionable, his motives are often rooted in a twisted sense of honor and duty.

This complexity raises an intriguing question: does Doctor Doom see himself as a villain? While the world views him as a threat, Doom likely perceives himself as a savior, albeit one who must make difficult and often morally dubious decisions. His life is a constant game of chess, with heroes and villains alike serving as pieces in his elaborate strategy.

Despite his reputation, there have been moments in Marvel history where Doctor Doom’s actions have made readers root for him—despite his name being synonymous with evil. Here are some of those pivotal moments:

10

BATTLING HIS FUTURE SELF

Iron-Man #250

In the Marvel Universe, time travel often leads to bizarre and unexpected confrontations. One such instance involved Doctor Doom being sent to a future version of Camelot by Merlin, alongside Iron Man. The mission? To take down a future version of Doom who had become even more malevolent and powerful.

Victor Von Doom, while unquestionably dangerous, adheres to a strict code of honor—driven by an ego as massive as his intellect. When faced with a version of himself that had become even more twisted and ruthless, Doom could not stand idly by. Rather than allowing this future incarnation to surpass him in villainy, Doom took matters into his own hands, ultimately striking down his future self.

This act, though driven by ego, had a positive outcome. By eliminating a version of himself that was too evil even by his own standards, Doom inadvertently protected humanity from a far greater threat. It’s a rare instance where Doom’s self-interest aligned with the greater good, creating a paradoxical scenario where the “villain” saves the day.

09

UPLIFITING WORLD

In an alternate reality explored in Marvel’s graphic novel series, Doctor Doom achieves his lifelong ambition of world domination by capturing the Purple Man and using his powers to control the global population. With no one left to oppose him, Doom could have unleashed tyranny. Instead, he astonished everyone by using his absolute power to stabilize the global economy, implement universal healthcare, and establish world peace. His reign brought prosperity and security to a world that had always feared him, proving that under the right circumstances, even Doom could be a benevolent ruler.

08

SAVING SUE STORM’S BABY

Fantastic Four #54

In a situation that would have shocked anyone familiar with Doctor Doom’s usual demeanor, he played a crucial role in the birth of Sue Storm’s second child. Due to her exposure to cosmic rays, Sue’s pregnancy was fraught with complications, and with Reed Richards unavailable, her brother Johnny turned to the most unlikely of allies—Victor Von Doom.

Utilizing his unmatched intelligence and mastery of both science and magic, Doom successfully delivered the baby. His only demand in return was the right to name the child, and he chose “Valeria,” in honor of a woman he once loved dearly. This unexpected act of compassion demonstrated a softer side to Doom, one that is rarely seen in the midst of his grandiose schemes.

07

PROTECTING FROM ZOMBIES

Marvel Zombies

When the Marvel Universe was overrun by the undead in the Marvel Zombies series, Nick Fury sought assistance from Doctor Doom to combat the relentless zombie hordes. True to his nature, Doom refused to help the wider world but ensured that Latveria remained a sanctuary amid the chaos.

Using a combination of advanced technology and potent magic, Doom erected a magical force field around Latveria, bolstered by his formidable arsenal, to repel the zombie onslaught. This act of protection, though self-serving, once again highlighted Doom’s ability to wield his power for the greater good—at least when it served his interests.

06

BECOMING IRON-MAN

Infamous Iron-Man

Even a man as proud as Doctor Doom can experience moments of introspection. After years of pursuing world domination and facing constant loneliness and regret, Doom decided to turn over a new leaf. When Tony Stark’s went into coma during Civil War II, Doom took on the mantle of Iron Man, determined to redeem himself as a hero.

Though initially met with skepticism from the Marvel Universe’s heroes, Doom gradually earned their trust. His intentions, though often questioned, were genuine, and his efforts to fight for good marked a significant shift in his character. The transition from feared tyrant to reluctant hero was a journey of self-discovery for Doom, showcasing his capacity for change and growth.

05

RESCUING HIS MOTHER

Doctor Strange & Doctor Doom: Triumph And Torment

The most driving force in Victor Von Doom’s life has always been the desire to save his mother, Cynthia Von Doom, from the clutches of Hell. This quest led him to participate in a competition for the title of Sorcerer Supreme, where he narrowly missed out on the victory. As a consolation, Doom was offered anything his heart desired, and he chose the opportunity to save his mother.

In the graphic novel Doctor Strange & Doctor Doom: Triumph and Torment, Doom teams up with Doctor Strange to storm the depths of Hell. Despite facing overwhelming odds, they manage to find Cynthia. However, in a heart-wrenching twist, Doom’s own flaws nearly doom the mission when his mother rejects his help, preferring to remain in torment rather than be freed through his treachery.

Yet, this very act of self-sacrifice by Cynthia, and Doom’s willingness to let her go, purifies her soul. Heaven intervenes, saving her and allowing her spirit to rest in peace. The tragedy of this story lies in Doom’s understanding that his mother would reject him, but his love for her was so great that he accepted her condemnation to secure her salvation. This act of selfless love remains one of Doom’s most defining moments, illustrating the deep emotional layers beneath his cold exterior.

04

SHIFTING WORLD AXIS

Avengers & X-Men: AXIS

In a world where the Red Skull has merged his mind with Charles Xavier’s, the threat to global peace is unimaginable. The Skull’s twisted plans threaten to plunge the world into chaos, and only the most powerful magic users can hope to stop him. Enter Doctor Doom and the Scarlet Witch.

In a desperate bid to counter the Red Skull’s influence, they cast a spell designed to turn the villain from evil to good. The spell, however, works too well, affecting not just the Red Skull but every hero and villain present on Genosha. Despite the unintended consequences, Doom’s actions are a significant victory against one of the most dangerous threats the Marvel Universe has ever faced. Ultimately, Doom restores the balance, returning the Avengers and the Inhumans to their rightful roles as defenders of Earth.

03

LIBERATING LATVERIA

Books of Doom

Doctor Doom’s rule over Latveria is one of the most defining aspects of his character. But how did he come to power in this small Eastern European nation? Books of Doom gives us a glimpse into this origin story, where Doom rises from the bottom of Latveria’s social hierarchy to become its unchallenged ruler.

At the time, Latveria was under the iron grip of a brutal totalitarian regime. Seeing an opportunity, Doom offered the people a better alternative—his own rule. Armed with the weapons and tools he provided, the citizens overthrew their oppressors and installed Doom as their new leader. While his methods may be ruthless, the people of Latveria are generally better off under his rule, enjoying benefits like universal healthcare and a stable economy. Doom’s rise to power is a testament to his strategic brilliance and his ability to inspire loyalty, even under an iron fist.

02

CONQUERING FUTURE

Doom 2099

In the dystopian future of Marvel 2099, the world is ruled by corrupt mega-corporations like Alchemax and Tiger Wyld. But when Doctor Doom is transported to this bleak future, he refuses to accept it. Latveria, his beloved homeland, is under the control of the tyrannical Tiger Wyld, and Doom is determined to reclaim it.

Teaming up with a group of rebels, Doom takes down Wyld and liberates Latveria. But, true to his nature, Doom doesn’t stop there. Seeing the widespread corruption and suffering caused by the mega-corporations, he sets his sights on taking over the entire world. In the world of Doom 2099, bowing to Doom’s rule might just be the lesser of two evils.

01

SAVING MULTIVERSE

Secret Wars (2015)

Doctor Doom’s most significant achievement may also be his most controversial. In Secret Wars (2015), the multiverse is on the brink of total destruction at the hands of the Beyonders. With only the 616 and Ultimate universes left standing, Doom and Doctor Strange join forces to stop them. But Doom, ever the opportunist, seizes the Beyonders’ power for himself.

With the multiverse crumbling around him, Doom creates Battleworld, a patchwork planet made from the remnants of countless destroyed universes. While far from perfect, it’s a last-ditch effort to save what little remains of existence. Though Reed Richards eventually restores the multiverse to its proper state, Doom’s actions were crucial in buying the heroes time to find a solution. In the end, Doom’s willingness to take on the burden of godhood, even if only temporarily, shows the complexity of his character—equal parts villain and savior.

Special Mention

BATTLE OF WILLS

Avengers: Emperor Doom

Pic Courtesy: Marvel Comics

Zebadiah Killgrave, known as the Purple Man, possesses a terrifying ability: he can bend anyone to his will with just a word. This power has proven nearly impossible to resist, making Killgrave one of the most dangerous villains in the Marvel Universe. Yet, in Avengers: Emperor Doom, Doctor Doom does the unthinkable—he resists.

Stripped of his armor, magic, and technology, Doom faces the full force of Killgrave’s powers. The Purple Man commands Doom to become his slave and end his own life, but Doom remains unmoved. Through sheer force of will, he overpowers Killgrave’s influence, proving that even the most formidable mental assaults are no match for Doom’s ironclad resolve.

Doctor Doom’s legacy is a testament to the complexity of his character. He is a man who seeks power above all else, yet his actions often blur the line between good and evil. While his methods are ruthless, they are occasionally tempered by a sense of duty and honor that makes him more than just a typical villain. Doom’s ability to oscillate between savior and tyrant is what makes him one of Marvel’s most compelling characters, leaving readers to ponder: is Doctor Doom a villainous hero or a heroic villain?

In the end, Victor Von Doom is a character who defies easy categorization. His journey is one of power, sacrifice, and an unyielding pursuit of his own twisted ideals. Whether he is saving the world or attempting to conquer it, Doctor Doom remains an enigma—a figure who challenges our understanding of what it means to be a hero or a villain.

20 Strange True Facts About Dr. Doom’s Armor

In the vast and intricate Marvel Comics Universe, few supervillains command as much respect and fear as Doctor Doom. Known for his genius intellect and his formidable blend of science and magic, Victor Von Doom is a force to be reckoned with. His abilities and cunning have allowed him to stand toe-to-toe with the most powerful heroes, and even his brief stint as a hero himself—when he took on the mantle of the Infamous Iron Man—proved his potential to be unstoppable. During this time, Doom single-handedly defeated supervillains that Marvel’s top heroes had struggled with for years, showcasing his unparalleled prowess.

Yet, much of Doctor Doom’s success can be attributed to the iconic armor he wears—a suit that is as legendary as the man himself. This armor, both scientifically advanced and mystically enhanced, is not just a protective shell but a symbol of Doom’s relentless pursuit of power and dominance. Even the suits worn by Iron Man pale in comparison to the technological and magical might of Doom’s armor. While the man inside the suit is undeniably formidable, the armor itself is a masterpiece of design, filled with secrets that make it as invincible as its wearer.

As Victor Von Doom prepares to reemerge in his classic form, it’s the perfect time to delve into the 20 weird and fascinating secrets that make Doctor Doom’s armor one of the most powerful and enigmatic suits in the Marvel Universe.

20

FORGED BY MONKS

The Origins of Doctor Doom’s Iconic Armor

To understand the origins of Doctor Doom’s imposing armor, we must look back to Fantastic Four Annual #2, where his backstory takes shape. Doom’s descent into darkness begins with the tragic deaths of his parents, who perished due to the machinations of the tyrannical King of Latveria. Driven by vengeance, Victor von Doom vowed to exact retribution. Following the catastrophic experiment that left him scarred and exiled from State University in America, Doom traveled to Tibet.

In Tibet, Doom encountered an order of mystical monks, who helped him hone his burgeoning mastery of the dark arts. Combining his advanced knowledge of science with the monks’ magic, Doom tasked them with forging his first suit of armor. The result was a powerful, enchanted suit that has evolved over the years, cementing itself as one of the most formidable in the Marvel Universe.

19

SPLINTERS OF TRUE CROSS

Doctor Doom’s Defense Against Vampires

Latveria’s proximity to Transylvania, home of the legendary Dracula, made it inevitable that Doctor Doom would take measures to defend himself against vampiric threats. In Captain Britain and MI:13 #10, readers learn just how far Doom went to ensure his protection.

MI:13, a British intelligence agency that targets supernatural entities, including vampires, crosses paths with Dracula. In this issue, Doom reveals that he has infused his armor with splinters of the True Cross, rendering him immune to vampire bites and other mystical threats. This defense makes Doom one of the few who can withstand Dracula’s wrath, bolstering his reputation as a man who leaves nothing to chance.

18

FLAME-PROOF

Human Torch-Resistant Armor

Doctor Doom’s armor is constructed from a high-strength titanium alloy, making it incredibly durable against physical attacks. But when you’re constantly battling the Fantastic Four, especially the Human Torch, you need specialized protection. Doom, ever meticulous, enhanced his armor with the ability to withstand even Johnny Storm’s most intense flames.

While the armor was already imbued with magical protections thanks to his time with the Tibetan monks, Doom further enhanced it over the years with his own technological innovations. In Fantastic Four #318, it becomes evident that the Human Torch’s firepower has no effect on Doom. Victor proudly declares that he spent years perfecting his armor’s flame resistance, making it impenetrable to the fiery onslaught.

17

HIGH VOLTAGE

Electrical Field Defense Mechanism

One of the more fearsome weapons built into Doctor Doom’s armor is its Electrical Field, capable of generating up to 100,000 megavolts of energy. This devastating defense mechanism was first demonstrated during Doom’s confrontation with Namor in Giant-Size Super-Villain Team-Up #1.

This powerful field is primarily defensive, delivering a brutal shock to anyone foolish enough to make physical contact with Doom. The surge of electricity can incapacitate even the strongest of foes, though Doom has had to upgrade it over time. In Fantastic Four #319, the electrical field proves ineffective against The Thing during a struggle in the Negative Zone, showing that even Doom’s innovations occasionally need refinement.

16

UPGRADED MOBILITY

Doctor Doom’s Evolving Flying Methods

In the early days of Marvel Comics, Doctor Doom relied on twin jetpacks strapped to his waist for flight. However, his methods of aerial mobility have evolved dramatically over the years. His suit has since been modified to feature a jetpack attached to his back, providing greater balance and maneuverability.

In some instances, Doom appears to fly without any visible propulsion, suggesting advanced technology beyond conventional jetpacks. His flight capabilities reached new heights when he took on the mantle of the Infamous Iron Man. With thrusters built into his Iron Man armor’s boots and repulsors in his gloves, Doom could hover, fly, and even control his falls with remarkable precision. These advancements cemented his place as not only a master of magic but a formidable force in technological innovation.

15

WEAKNESS EXPOSED

Repeated Blows Can Break Doctor Doom’s Armor

Doctor Doom’s armor is built to withstand immense forces, from high-powered energy blasts to fire and more. Yet, even this seemingly indestructible suit has a fatal flaw—something that Marvel’s heroes, particularly The Thing, should keep in mind. In Luke Cage, Hero for Hire #9, Luke Cage confronts Doctor Doom over an unpaid $200 fee. After a series of relentless punches aimed at Doom’s abdomen, Luke succeeds in shattering the armor.

Doom himself admits that while his armor can endure almost anything, it is vulnerable to repeated strikes on the same spot. This Achilles’ heel offers a rare glimpse into a weakness of one of Marvel’s most powerful villains.

14

FINGER CANNON

Doom’s Secret Weapon

Doctor Doom’s gauntlets come equipped with a variety of powerful weapons, including concussive blasts. However, Doom also possesses a lesser-known weapon—an atomic-powered blast that shoots from the fingertip of his right gauntlet. While this “finger cannon” may sound like a potent force, it’s not Doom’s most powerful attack. In Amazing Spider-Man #5, Spider-Man easily blocks the blast with a web-shield and even clogs Doom’s gauntlet with webbing, neutralizing the weapon.

Despite its relatively low power compared to Doom’s other capabilities, the finger cannon remains an unexpected trick up his armored sleeve.

13

WRIST COMMUNICATOR

Doom’s Tactical Edge

Doctor Doom is not just a formidable physical combatant; he’s also a technological genius who understands the importance of diplomacy, strategy, and mind games. To facilitate his operations, Doom’s right gauntlet includes a built-in video communicator. This device allows Doom to make audio and video calls to anyone, anywhere, at any time. Thanks to his advanced hacking abilities, Doom can tap into any network to broadcast his messages—whether to negotiate, taunt, or issue threats.

This communication tool gives Doom a tactical edge, enabling him to keep his enemies on edge or communicate his plans without physically engaging.

12

FORCE FIELD

Powerful but Limited

Pic Courtesy : Marvel Comics

Doctor Doom’s force field is one of the most potent defensive tools in the Marvel Universe. It can block nearly any type of attack, whether it be fire from the Human Torch, bullets from military-grade weapons, or powerful energy blasts from superhuman foes. However, this impenetrable defense comes with a significant drawback.

As shown in Super-Villain Team-Up #4, Doom’s force field works both ways. When activated, it not only blocks incoming attacks but also prevents Doom from retaliating with his own offensive blasts. Additionally, the force field drains his suit’s energy reserves and limits the armor’s ability to absorb external power sources, rendering him vulnerable once the shield lowers.

11

INFRARED VISION

Doom’s Armor Is Invisible Woman-Proof

Pic Courtesy : Marvel Comics

Doctor Doom has battled the Fantastic Four for decades, always seeking new ways to counter their unique powers. His armor has been improved over time to address each member’s abilities. He made it resistant to the Human Torch’s flames, durable enough to withstand The Thing’s physical attacks, and advanced in intelligence to rival Reed Richards. But what about the Invisible Woman?

Doom added infrared vision to his mask, enabling him to detect invisible foes by tracking their heat signatures. This enhancement renders him immune to the stealth tactics of Sue Storm, further proving his superiority in preparing for any eventuality.

10

SELF SUFFICIENCY

Doom’s Armor Is a Life-Support System

Pic Courtesy : Marvel Comics

Doctor Doom’s armor is not just a weaponized suit; it’s also a fully self-sufficient life-support system. Whether Doom is in the vacuum of space or the crushing depths of the ocean, his armor keeps him alive. In Super-Villain Team-Up #1, Namor rescues Doom from the ocean, only to be shocked that Doom survived the ordeal. Doom arrogantly explains that his suit can sustain him for extended periods without food, water, or external oxygen.

The armor’s internal systems recycle oxygen and provide sustenance, enabling Doom to thrive in hostile environments without needing outside resources. This self-sufficiency makes him one of the most resilient and dangerous villains in the Marvel Universe, capable of surviving situations that would incapacitate others.

09

ENERGY EFFICIENCY

Solar-Powered Supervillain

Doctor Doom’s armor is a marvel of self-sufficiency, outclassing typical power-driven suits that can run out of energy mid-battle. Victor von Doom, always ahead of the technological curve, equipped his armor with a state-of-the-art thermo-energizer. This innovative feature allows his suit to continuously absorb solar energy, keeping it powered indefinitely. The absorbed energy not only fuels the armor itself but also powers all of its various systems, from defensive shields to offensive weaponry.

While solar-powered technology has only recently gained popularity in the real world, Doom had mastered this form of energy decades earlier in the Marvel Universe. His perpetual energy source ensures that he never runs out of power in a fight, proving once again that Doctor Doom is leagues ahead of even the most brilliant minds on Earth.

08

THERMO-ENERGIZER

Hidden in the Armor’s Thigh

Pic Courtesy : Marvel Comics

Even in moments of desperation, Doctor Doom is never without a plan. Within the thigh panel of his armor lies a secret weapon—an emergency thermo-energizer that can be activated with just a simple touch. This hidden button is a failsafe that allows Doom to harness and control solar energy for a final, decisive attack when he’s on the brink of defeat.

In Astonishing Tales #5, Doom used this secret feature during a battle with the Red Skull. With one touch, he activated the thermo-energizer and channeled immense power into his armor, enabling him to perform a last-ditch, overwhelming attack. This hidden ace up his sleeve gives Doom a strategic advantage, ensuring he always has a powerful trump card.

07

SUPER STRENGTH

Armor-Enhanced Super Strength

Doctor Doom’s physical strength might not compare to that of superhuman beings when he’s without his armor. However, once inside his suit, his strength is elevated to superhuman levels thanks to a combination of advanced technology and mystical enhancements. Tibetan monks who helped forge the armor infused it with magical properties, significantly boosting Doom’s physical power.

With the armor, Doom can lift between 800 pounds to 25 tons, placing him squarely on the “superhuman” scale. In Amazing Spider-Man #350, he demonstrated his impressive strength by pulverizing a diamond with his bare hands. Not only does this strength enable him to stand toe-to-toe with powerful heroes like Spider-Man and The Thing, but it also makes Doom a force to be reckoned with in any battle.

06

DURABLE

More Durable Than Iron Man’s Armor

Pic Courtesy : Marvel Comics

A frequent comparison in the Marvel Universe pits Doctor Doom’s armor against Iron Man’s. After all, both suits are technological masterpieces created by two of the world’s most brilliant minds. However, while Tony Stark’s various suits are designed for specific missions and often rebuilt after destruction, Doom’s armor is in a class of its own in terms of durability.

Made from high-strength titanium alloy and enhanced through mystical means by Tibetan monks, Doom’s armor is significantly more durable than Iron Man’s. The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe confirms that Doom’s suit can withstand far more damage, thanks to its unique blend of cutting-edge technology and ancient magic. While Stark’s armor may be more versatile, Doom’s is built to last.

05

CLOAKING TECHNOLOGY

Invisible to the Eye and Beyond

Pic Courtesy : Marvel Comics

Doctor Doom has always believed in being prepared for any situation, and that extends to staying hidden from his enemies. Despite being a master of the mystic arts with the ability to teleport at will, Doom doesn’t rely solely on magic. He has outfitted his armor with advanced cloaking devices, allowing him to disappear from both human sight and sophisticated tracking systems.

In Infamous Iron Man #2, Doom demonstrated this technological advantage by rendering himself invisible, evading both physical detection and advanced scanning equipment. This blend of technological and mystical invisibility makes Doom an elusive and unpredictable threat. Whether facing superheroes or other villains, Doom’s ability to vanish and reappear at will gives him an unparalleled strategic advantage.

04

MASTER OF MAGNETISM

More Than Just Magneto

Pic Courtesy : Marvel Comics

When you think of “The Master of Magnetism,” Magneto, the mutant leader of the Brotherhood of Mutants, may immediately come to mind. However, Doctor Doom has also mastered magnetic manipulation—thanks to the Electro-Magnetic Amplifier built into his armor. This amplifier enables Doom to control magnetic forces with ease, adding yet another layer to his already formidable abilities.

In Infamous Iron Man #4, Victor von Doom demonstrated this power by disarming children scavenging the streets of Latveria, using magnetic force to pull the weapons out of their hands. This incredible mastery of magnetism places Doom in a class of his own, even allowing him to manipulate metals in ways that can overpower even technologically advanced heroes like Iron Man. Magneto may have claimed the title, but Doctor Doom has quietly been a magnetic powerhouse, ready to use it as another tool in his arsenal for domination.

03

SUPER HEARING

Enhanced Vision — Doom Misses Nothing

Pic Courtesy : Marvel Comics

Victor von Doom’s mask isn’t just for show; it’s an advanced piece of equipment that gives him an unparalleled advantage in both combat and strategy. The mask contains an array of enhancements that allow Doom to see and hear things that no ordinary human could detect.

For vision, Doom’s mask is equipped with infrared scanners that can detect invisible people and track heat signatures. He also benefits from high-powered telescopic lenses that allow him to see vast distances, and night vision enables him to remain vigilant even in complete darkness. No environment—be it light, dark, or obscured—can prevent Doom from seeing his target.

In addition to visual enhancements, Doom’s mask also features amplified hearing. The optical sensors in his mask allow him to pick up frequencies far beyond the range of human hearing. Whether he’s eavesdropping on conversations or tuning in to radio frequencies, Doom always remains steps ahead of his enemies, ensuring that nothing escapes his notice.

02

YELLOW MIST

The Clone Revealer

Pic Courtesy : Marvel Comics

In Fantastic Four #199, Doctor Doom’s tactical brilliance came into play when he created a clone to take his place on Latveria’s throne. The clone, made in Doom’s image, possessed the combined powers of the Fantastic Four. However, Doom’s plans were interrupted by The Fantastic Four themselves and insurgents within his own country. This forced Doom into direct conflict with his clone—a battle that showcased yet another of his hidden weapons.

Doom unleashed a specialized yellow mist from his armor that made the invisible clone visible again. This weapon was one of many fail-safes Doom built into his armor, specifically to deal with the Fantastic Four’s powers. His foresight in creating such defenses makes him one of the most prepared and cunning strategists in the Marvel Universe.

01

DEFENCE

Invulnerable to Doom’s Own Weapons

Pic Courtesy : Marvel Comics

Doctor Doom is no stranger to betrayal. Over the years, his Doom Bots—robotic minions that serve as extensions of his will—have been hijacked, rebelled, and even turned against him in numerous instances. To counteract this risk, Doom ingeniously programmed his armor to be immune to his own weapons.

In Amazing Spider-Man #5, Spider-Man was shocked when a blast from Doom’s own disintegrator ray hit him without leaving so much as a scratch. Doom remained unfazed, casually stating that he had long ago designed his armor to be impervious to his weapons. It’s this kind of foresight and precaution that makes Doom one of the most calculated and untouchable figures in the Marvel Universe.
