Travis Kelce to Make Feature Film Debut in Lionsgate’s Action Comedy Loose Cannons

Travis Kelce, the NFL star and recent Super Bowl champion, is gearing up to take on a new challenge—this time on the big screen. The Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end is set to make his feature film debut in Loose Cannons, an action-comedy currently in development at Lionsgate.

While specific plot details are being kept tightly under wraps, anticipation is already building. With the new NFL season just weeks away, filming is expected to be delayed, allowing Kelce to focus on his football commitments. The screenplay is penned by Timothy Dowling, known for his work on Pixels, while the production will be overseen by Chad Stahelski of John Wick fame, alongside Jason Spitz and Alex Young for 87Eleven Entertainment.

Kelce, who has recently been in the spotlight as much for his high-profile relationship with pop icon Taylor Swift as for his on-field prowess, is quickly expanding his Hollywood footprint. Loose Cannons will mark Kelce’s first foray into feature films, but it’s not his only upcoming project. He’s also starring in Grotesquerie, a horror drama from the mind of Ryan Murphy, set to premiere on FX on September 25. The series revolves around a series of brutal crimes unsettling a small community, with Niecy Nash-Betts playing Detective Lois Tryon, who believes the crimes are eerily personal. Lesley Manville and Courtney B. Vance round out the cast, while details about Kelce’s role remain a mystery.

Beyond acting, Kelce has also proven his versatility as a producer. He recently executive produced the dark comedy My Dead Friend Zoe, which premiered at SXSW and is slated for a November 1 release by Briarcliff Entertainment. Additionally, Kelce is the charismatic host of Prime Video’s Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?, further cementing his status as a multi-talented entertainer.

Timothy Dowling, the writer behind Loose Cannons, has a track record of delivering successful comedies, including Pixels with Adam Sandler and Kevin James, and films like This Means War, Knight and Day, Role Models, and Just Go With It.

As for 87Eleven Entertainment, the production company is riding high on the success of the John Wick franchise. Their recent work includes the female-led spin-off Ballerina, starring Ana de Armas, set to hit theaters on June 6, 2025. Upcoming projects from the company include Stahelski’s highly anticipated Highlander reboot and the newly announced series John Wick: Under The High Table, among other ventures.

With Kelce’s star power, both on and off the field, Loose Cannons is shaping up to be a must-watch film. Keep an eye out for more details as they emerge, and get ready to see Travis Kelce in a whole new light.
